Why You'll Love this Ground Turkey Dirty Rice
This ground turkey dirty rice recipe is inspired by my mom's authentic Louisiana-style dirty rice, with a zesty Station 1923 twist. Made in the Instant Pot, it’s quick, flavorful, and packed with Station 1923’s Creole Smoke Seasoning and Black People Spaghetti Seasoning seasonings. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or meal prep, this recipe is your go-to for dirty rice with all the Louisiana flavor without any of the guilt.

Ingredients
- 1 cup jasmine rice, rinsed
- 1 lb ground turkey (or ground chicken)
- 2 tsp Station 1923 Creole Smoke Seasoning (plus more to taste)
- 1 tsp Station 1923 Black People Spaghetti Seasoning (plus more to taste)
- 1 ½ cups chopped bell peppers and onion
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cup chicken, vegetable, or beef stock (see Kitchen Notes)
- 2 tbsp olive oil or oil of choice
- Chopped green onion, for garnish
Instructions
- Sauté the veggies: Set your Instant Pot to Sauté. Add olive oil, then cook 2–3 minutes to soften. Add in bay leaves.
- Add the ground turkey: Cook round turkey until browned. Season with 1 tsp Creole Smoke Seasoning and 1 tsp Black People Spaghetti Seasoning.
- Deglaze with stock: Pour in stock (or water + base), scraping the bottom of the pot to release any browned bits.
- Add rice + season: Stir in rinsed jasmine rice. Add remaining Creole Smoke Seasoning and more Black People Spaghetti Seasoning if needed.
- Pressure cook: Seal lid and set to High Pressure, 7 minutes. Allow a 5-minute natural release, then quick release.
- Finish & serve: Fluff rice with a fork. Garnish with green onions. Serve hot.
Station 1923 Kitchen Notes
- Don't skip the rice rinse — removing the excess starch yields a fluffier rice and minimizes gumminess
- We're big fans of reduced sodium Better Than Bouillon bases vs. keeping cartons of stock on hand. For this recipe we combined 8 oz water + 1 tsp roasted chicken base + 1 tsp veggie base.
Tips & Variations
- Swap jasmine rice for brown rice (increase cook time to 22 minutes high pressure).
- For a more traditional dirty rice, add chopped chicken livers with the ground turkey.
- Spice it up with extra Black People Spaghetti Seasoning for more heat.
- Pairs well with roasted chicken, grilled shrimp, or as a stand-alone bowl.
